At the beginning of Hollow Knight, an unnamed knight arrives at the ruins of Hallownest, a vast and ancient kingdom just below a filthy town called Mudmouth. Hollow Knight follows an unnamed knight as he traverses an ancient plague realm known as Hallownest, inhabited by various insects.
